Cleveland, Ohio – Myles Garrett earned his money. Brown fans kept their favorite player. But in a world where every online subscriber counts a lid expert himself, one has to “lose” the transaction.
Garrett signed a four -year extension, $ 160 million ($ 123.5 million guaranteed) to stay with Cleveland on Sunday, but it is very expensive. The mass re-emphasized manager General Andrew Berry to win now, which is very short. And hey, sword swords on twitter smart pants Garrett’s contract string can be proven correct in their sports business estimates.
But here in Cleveland, where sports business has a human spirit, Browns saved their fans from purgatory over the weekend. Garrett’s return gives fans of normal football, not focused on more reasons to watch games next season. And call me crazy, informed or briefly, but I believe their opinion matters as well.
Save it, Nerds: Fans of Browns realize that the hopes of Cleveland 2025 are wrong. And they know Garrett’s reach, which can pay $ 40 million a year until 35 years old, can grow poorly. I said the fans are normal, not stupid.
In fact, they have a cleaner love for football than most media troops that value any transaction (including current enterprise). For microphone holders among us, excellent players are good interviewing subjects and/or film studies. Their deeds that believe logic become anecdotes in our stories. Distancing yourself from coincidence is part of the work.
But in building our career, I think we lose contact with consumers. Remember dear sports for the sake of sport? Remember why we chose this career in the first place?
I will bet that, for any Truther transaction which appreciates the gorrett extension poorly, you will find a dusty football shirt buried deep in their closet. When is the last time they wore it?
Best Guess: Long ago, perhaps from childhood. We all have favorite players – not favorite leaders – growing. And no new fan wants their son to be traded. Some of us grow old in (supposed) football scholars. Others never miss out of wonderful athletes inspires. Want to guess which group has more weight during the front office decisions?
Cover your ears, media-mucks media. We are simply dogs of observation of the sports industry. Fans are the blood of life. And happy customers beat the ombudsmen satisfied every day of the football calendar.
Yes, Browns andrew Berry’s general manager stretched out Garrett because he thinks Cleveland can make Play -off next season. But Berry also gave Muni lotters a reason to go back to Bowling again in the next September. He kept the #95 jerseys in style on the fashionable autumn Sundays. If he paid a lot for privilege, so be it.
Some transactions are “earned” away from the lid sheets.
Many smart people will not agree. They would say browns should have met Garrett’s trade request. They will doubt Cleveland’s ability to re-serve a winner this season. And they will question Garrett’s readiness to sign the alignment.
How can he buy in the wrong plan, win now? Or how does this new money account for his loser fate?
Answers to both questions read the same thing among Normy Browns fans: Who cares. Signing Garrett, Cleveland invested less on last year 4-13 last year than in Fanbase who supported it. Is that decision without meaning or with a short sight? Or can brainiacs be the sports business?
Garrett deserves his money. Cleveland deserves a face for its exclusivity. So despite the 2025 Brown record, I’m calling a Garrett win for Cleveland fans.
In a world where many have lost contact with their sports spirit, someone – in this case, Garrett and Berry – should remind you that it exists.
